Cindy, Travel Advisor at the Tourist Office of the Heart Bassin

Take advantage of autumn to admire the colors of the banks of the Leyre!

Autumn is often synonymous with grayness and boredom. An inevitable phenomenon, autumn drives out the chlorophyll from the leaves due to the lack of sun and the drop in temperature. The landscape is no less pretty, a sparkling panel of yellow, red and orange colors are offered to you. Today take a breath of fresh air alone, with family or friends and admire the flamboyant colors of this beautiful late autumn.

Let yourself be carried away

The walk begins on Place Birabeille at Mios, you are in a Natura 2000 area, the municipality of Mios being part of the Landes de Gascogne Regional Natural Park. Playground for children, sports areas: this place is not lacking in activities and life in all seasons. Take the small white path near the large weeping willow, symbol of this place and let yourself be carried away for a few moments while contemplating the Leyre and its beautiful rust color. The royal osmonde, very present on the banks of the Eyre, has taken on its autumn costume, a charming red color.

Stroll along the banks of the Eyre to listen to birdsong

Continue your getaway by crossing the wooden footbridge, direction the “T en Leyre” tree climbing course where Johan and his team will welcome you during the Toussaint holidays. Now look up and see the oaks, alders, and pines. Autumn has set in and left its mark on the trees with beautiful fire-colored foliage. Go deep into the forest, maybe you will see pickers. Mushrooms, true autumn treasures, will delight your taste buds. Picking requires only a little knowledge in order to identify the different species of mushrooms: ceps from Bordeaux, chanterelles, boletes, and other delicacies.

Sdid you know that at least 103 protected bird species have been observed in the municipality of Mios?
