To learn all about the oyster, stop by the Oyster House. Videos, models, collectors and a history room dissect the pearl of the Bassin from every angle. The outdoor course tells us about the environment around us: traditional boats, ports, flora of the Bassin...

Stroll on the port of Larros
Take the time to stroll on theoyster farmers' esplanade, with its colorful huts, while watching the boats. At the very end, the Christ jetty, a superb view of the Arcachon Bassin!
On the esplanade, take a break to meet the oyster farmers and taste oysters, accompanied by pâté!
How to resist a plate of oysters freshly harvested?
They can be eaten at the hut, or in the sun on the pier of Christ, or in one of the four restaurants.
For lovers of traditional boats: the Dubourdieu shipyard, one of the oldest in France, has been designing pinasses since 1800. Perhaps you will be lucky enough to see one of these boats on leaving the yard!
To note : every Thursday in July-August, from 8 p.m., there is something going on in the port of Larros: concert, theatre, cinema, entertainment... Friendly evenings guaranteed!
From Larros, take the coastal path for an amazing ride! On the route that connects the 7 ports of Gujan-Mestras, you alternate between panoramic views of the wild coastline and encounters with the oyster farmers of the Bassin.

Embark on a flat for a tide out in the company of an oyster farmer is undoubtedly the best way to discover the oysters of the Bassin and this fascinating profession. A very original way to discover the Bassin with those who work there in summer and winter.
Along the way, the oyster farmer shares his daily life with us. On the water, take the time to live the experience while admiring the jewels of the Bassin: the Pilat dune, the cabins on stilts, the Cap Ferret lighthouse...
Once arrived at the breeding grounds, we contemplate the slow retreat of the tide and the oyster farmer begins to put his bags of oysters in the water.
When the parks are accessible on foot, we walk there while questioning the oyster farmer who turns his pockets... A real know-how!
Then, the oyster farmer offers us an oyster tasting on his boat!

CONVENIENT : it is necessary to plan a suitable outfit, no question of going there in flip-flops! You will leave according to the tide times of the day: the departure can be at 6 a.m. or at 4 p.m. for example.

To come to the Port of Larros, the easiest way: either by train (TER Aquitaine, line 41.2 U), or in Baia bus (lines 4 or 8 or shuttle F), and stop at Gujan-Mestras station.
The port is 5 min walk from the train station!
