“Arcachon > Dune du Pilat” cycling getaway
From Arcachon, It takes approximately one half day bike ride up to the Dune du Pilat.
With this bike ride, you will come across the Arcachon market, the Pereire beach, the neighborhood from Moulleau and its Notre Dame des Passes Church. Take the time to stop along the way for a picnic and an (improvised) swim on the Corniche beach after climbing the Dune du Pilat. Pedaling, discovering, tasting, dreaming, enjoying... here is the program!
In the morning, stock up on good products at the market
Make a stop at Arcachon market (Halle Baltard) and stroll among the stalls. You will be seduced by the paraphernalia of flavors, smells and colors in the aisles... It's the perfect time to buy local products for a family picnic! Let yourself be tempted by the good charcuterie to peck at, seasonal vegetables, offered by local merchants.
Climb to the top of the Dune du Pilat
Take your bikes and set off to discover one of the most fascinating views in France: the Dune du Pilat, passing by the Pereire beach. Once you arrive in the parking lot of the dune, you can put your bikes down for free.
The bravest can climb the dune by sand, otherwise, know that there is a staircase to climb to the top, from Easter to All Saints. Once at the top, venture beyond the staircase to discover an incredible landscape between pine forest and ocean. Look into the distance, you may even see the Tip of Cap Ferret.

And why not settle down for a picnic at the foot of the Dune du Pilat? After all these efforts, you will have well deserved it! Go down to its foot on the Corniche beach for a swimming break and settle in for a picnic. The view of the Banc d'Arguin, the Tip and the Lège-Cap Ferret peninsula in the distance is really worth the detour! Spread out your tablecloth and enjoy the moment with your feet in the sand...

Get on your bikes to head back toArcachon. The cycle paths of Pyla sur Mer are beautiful ! After about twenty minutes on the bike, you will come across the Church of Notre Dame des Passes which overlooks the Moulleau.
