From Arcachon, head towards a bike rental early in the morning for a walk on the other side of the Bassin in Arcachon.

Once you have chosen your bike, set off for a great day on the Arcachon Bay !
Climb on your bike to reach the Thiers jetty. Consider finding out about the maritime shuttle schedules in the direction of Cap Ferret. You can take the bike on board the boat! Take advantage of the crossing to admire the landscapes of Bassin, Arcachon from the water... In the distance, you will guess the "Cabanes Tchanquées" and the peninsula of Lège-Cap Ferret… The 30 min crossing is a nice breath of sea air and it is unthinkable to bypass the Bassin by car!
Stop at the Cap Ferret Lighthouse
The boat moors and you have arrived at the Bélisaire jetty in Cap Ferret, where several bars and restaurants offer a beautiful view of Arcachon's Bassin and the Dune du Pilat. It's time to stop for a coffee, an orange juice and a pastry to gain strength before the bike ride. Especially since the view is worth the detour!
Get back on the bike towards the famous Cap Ferret Lighthouse. On the road, pay attention, you can see the Notre Dame des Flots Church. This pretty church was initially a small chapel on the edge of Bassin. Inside, the architecture of the nave is reminiscent of an overturned boat! And its main stained glass window is truly superb!
The road will then take you to the Lighthouse. From its height of 53 meters, the Cap Ferret Lighthouse offers a panoramic view of the entire Bassin of Arcachon... Climb its 258 steps to admire the view of the Dune du Pilat and the oyster beds: incredible! Downstairs, try your hand at the various interactive workshops to understand and discover the history of this monument which lights up sailors after dark.
Stroll through the oyster-farming village of Mimbeau
At noon, the oyster village of Mimbeau is a pleasant place to have lunch. This little corner of the peninsula is home to many oyster shacks and offers a magnificent view of the Dune du Pilat and the Conche du Mimbeau (beautiful natural sand dyke).
With friends, sit on the terrace, with oysters and a glass of white wine! Le Mimbeau is one of those little villages in Bassin that you would never want to leave...
Pedal to the Pointe du Cap Ferret
There comes a time when you have to leave this little nest, to discover a natural site as beautiful as the Mimbeau: the Pointe du Cap Ferret. The paths will take you to the end of the peninsula!
In front of you: the waters of the Bassin mix with those of the ocean, creating particular shapes. And the panorama is grandiose, with the view of the Banc d'Arguin and the Dune du Pilat!
Taste the waves of Horizon Beach
To spend a beautiful sunny afternoon, we head to Horizon beach. If you prefer Atlantic waves to the calm waters of Bassin: you've come to the right place! This large ocean beach is very wild. It is also the haunt of many surfers: a good point if you want to try this board sport!
And for those who prefer the calm waters of Bassin, there are also very nice little beaches, such as the Plage du Center in Cap Ferret or that of Mimbeau.
