Meet our brewers...

On the Bassin, if the saying goes that we live with love and fresh water, we are also satisfied with the reverse friendship and white wine. However, in this land of iodine and wonders, the grape, as tradition would have it, does not have the monopoly to accompany and sublimate the oysters that make it famous. For several years, at the initiative of many beer lovers, microbreweries are setting up everywhere in France, bringing up to date ancestral techniques and ancient processes. As the region is not devoid of emerging brewers, we invite you, in words and images, to discover the portraits of these lovers of malt and hops.

As we invite each other unexpectedlyyou in our grandfather's garage, your eye drawn by surprising tools, we enter Lucien's by seizing a piece of history. Beyond the beauty of the craftsmanship which made its reputation, copper cauldrons and oak barrels express themselves other than in images through the passionately disjointed words of those who exploit them. Behind the counter of the V&B, the child of the country in thirst for independence, knew how to draw his inspiration, to intensify his culture of beer, leaving germinate a seed of idea into malt, walking from then on according to his feelings until his small brewery is born.

Drift, pleasure beer ; it's on the tone of this tailor-made identity, marine connotation and full of promise that we guess the deep attachment of the young brewer to our region, to the ocean, to the spray. It is also thanks to this desire to bring added value to the local heritage without just using it that he wanted to develop his range. of three beers intended exclusively for sale in restaurants and fine grocery stores in Bassin...

Leaving nothing to chance, everything at Lucien is a matter of patience, reasoning, maturity where without haste you have to know how to listen to yourself without seeing beyond your limits. Unlike other breweries, it has been able to play the card of modesty, refuting the industrial model to bring old, forgotten brewing methods up to date, thanks to marginalized techniques and ancestral values gleaned over the years. his encounters. In his studio, where the walls infused with a wood fire, let perspire scents of flowers and bitterness, each object has a meaning, a function that advocates a logical return to the simplicity of things.

If the old people worked like that, it's not for nothing"

From the creation of its unique recipes in the world, which combine southwestern, sweet and sauvignon blanc grape varieties, untilmanual bottling of its 7,000 monthly bottles, Lucien follows each stage of its production with an efficiency that establishes all its difference since its creation in 2020. Even beyond its innovative flavors, Dérive expresses its typicality through its blending in a natural way; oyster shells to modify the water profile and help the yeasts to work, copper tanks to replace stainless steel and chemicals, fermentation and micro-oxygenation in barrels .. Attention to detail, a taste for authenticity that shines through in the jovial and natural character of the brewer at the pilot suit.

After this visit, attentive ears to any his pretty philosophy, Lucien suggests that curiosity, far from being an ugly defect, can be taken to its conclusion, the starting point for adventures that are worth emancipating from codes and received ideas.

Behind this craft brewery, there is Sebastian and Sophie ! One is a former engineer who started to brew for friends, the other has more than 10 years of experience in trade and logistics, but above all passionate of gastronomy!

Their motto: craft and live beers ! Their recipes are the result of2 years of development to develop beers that look like them ! To brew, they only use natural ingredients: water, malts, hops and yeast.

And when they say their beers are alive…It's true ! They are all refermented in the bottle, no gas is added! It is the action of the yeasts which, by consuming the sugar, develops the aromatic palette of their products, the rwhile effervescent and giving them an authentic taste !

Located in their La Teste de Buch premises, this is where they brew up to 500 litres…per day ! But before you can taste them, you will have to wait 6 weeks according to the recipes so that the process is ready.

They select their malts and hops with care, respecting the raw materials. The plus: they recycle the main waste from the brewery, namely spent grains, cereals from brewing, in food for the bread making with local bakers. They were also rewarded for this project at twice in 2022 by two large business clubs from the north and south Bassin of Arcachon.

Brewed in Pays de Buch, their beers affirm their styles and their identity!

Returned from the gates of the Médoc, Pierre and Quentin, are fell in love with the small Bassin, when they came to spend their holidays in Claouey with their grandparents. Wine employee, Quentin, collecting bottles of beer until then naturally ended up prefer hops to grapes thus leading Pierre, a teacher in health prevention, to join his one day project to open their own brewery.

Childhood friends grown up, the Grass and the Cannon still in the heart. VS'It is with a fraternal force that they associate and obviously come to settle in Andernos, thus offering themselves this inaccessible coast which had made them dream for a long time. Back in their homeland, after two months of training in the Jura, they throw their first series of brews in the family garage, picking up from the first sip the proud smiles of their dads.

Complementaries and accomplices, if one, dreamer druid, takes care of alchemy and sometimes gets carried away by doubt, the other, encourages him, reassures him, takes care of bringing him back to earth finding the balance that suits the creating a nice product.

Godfather of children, witnesses of marriage, it's not just a partner, not just my friend, it's my strength!

It's still salty from an afternoon of swimming that these children of the ocean let emerge their Sand Moss ; a range of six beers carried by the currents, technical, fragrant and generous in malt. Surrounded by a crown of barley, the flower of hops similar to a pine cone, she also reports to the Bassin at low tide, a reference that they wanted to be typical without falsely appropriating the identity of the people here.

Developing their beers from French raw materials, they hope to eventually expand their production to more complex beers, with notes of vanilla, fruit, thus providing a milky finality tending to recall thehe “geek” beers from our Belgian neighbors.

Advocating the friendliness and sharing, attached to all these places of passage in which they grew up, they have this common desire to enhance the territory, thus distributing their beers at wine merchants and grocery stores in the Gironde, from Bassin to the Médoc, stopping off at Hourtin.

This duo of brewers, beyond their unfailing friendship, is once again proof that everything happens for a reason the heart can't ignore.

MIRA Brewery

Under the supervision of chimerical creatures, it is in a cozy atmosphere, comfortably installed by the fireside, which can be glimpsed behind large windows, the bowels of the most famous Brewery of the Bassin.
Founded in 2015 by Jacques Bellec, dealer of Breton origin, Mira, as he wished, curious and unique has become in a few years a vtrue institution otherwise even than for his wide range of beers.

Worn by the dreams of a big child, in this place where everything relates to art, all the superlatives gravitate and agree to transpose the place into a meeting counter, a landmark, in which one enters with the certain guarantee of no longer knowing where to lay eyes or lend ears.

At a time brasserie, cabinet of curiosities, artist nurseries, music school, Mira skims over conformism and gives its walls the air of museums where paintings, collections of insects, vinyls and hunting trophies, confusing then the tiny with the infinite size of an immense swordfish in capsules and monumental frescoes.

Here, everything works in correlation. What the brewing borrows of water from the natural spring of the pines is returned like a drop in its smallest coin to this nature which inspires and nourishes the work of Germain, house hop maker.

Less intimate but just as warm, Mira has stood out through art, to magnify over the years and expand like a whim without misunderstanding the human.
