A gourmet food tour in Cap Ferret
Breathtaking places, beautiful encounters with passionate locals and tastings of good products... Here's a great program for a day on the Arcachon Bay ! Today we follow Alain from Cap Gourmand, our local guide who will make us discover on foot, the secret places of Cap Ferret.

Meet in front of the Cap Ferret lighthouse
It's 10:30 in the morning. It's time for us to meet Alain in front of the Cap Ferret lighthouse to start our food tour.
After the visit of the blockhouse and some explanations on the history of the peninsula, we leave in the direction of one of the most beautiful beaches of Cap Ferret, the Mimbeau. This is where Alain tells us about Arcachon Bay and the villages that make it up. Tomorrow, for sure, we will visit the other oyster villages of Lège-Cap Ferret!

Gourmet break at “La P’tite Patisserie du Ferret”
Stop at “La P'tite Patisserie”, the address of the locals for our first gourmet stop of the morning. The idea is to recognize one of their specialties, and to understand why this cake is “almost Basque”. We'll let you guess!

At the exit, many tiles and sensors used to collect oyster spats (babies!) give us a good reason to stop and listen to Alain before continuing the walk.

Oyster tasting at Le Ferret
Here it is, the one we were waiting for so much: oyster tasting ! In addition to meeting Catherine Roux, oyster farmer and lover of Arcachon Bassin, it's the perfect opportunity to enjoy the landscape.

Catherine tells us about her job, her products and even gives us some tips for recognizing a young oyster! It is then time to taste our beautiful plates of oysters, accompanied by prawns and a glass of local white wine facing the Dune du Pilat… A friendly moment that we will remember!

Let's have a picnic!
Head to the " 44 hectare district », between Mimbeau and Pointe du Ferret, on foot to pass the houses including the famous house from the film “Les petits mouchoirs”. In front of the Dune du Pilat, we sit down to listen carefully to all of Alain's explanations about this magical place.
Still hungry ? We had been warned, the visit is full of delicacies…
Back in the oyster-farming village of Mimbeau for the penultimate stop in picnic mode! At the same time, that’s what the Real Vacation is…

On the program for this tasting: Médoc attic, black pork sausage from Bigorre, Bayonne ham and many others South West specialties. And all this, in front of an exceptional view!

What about the White Dunes then?
Of course, impossible to leave Lege-Cap Ferret without tasting the traditional White Dunes from Pascal! And it is in the Cap Ferret lighthouse park what happens this last tasting to end in style.

You will have understood it, this food tour with Alain from Cap Gourmand delighted our eyes and our taste buds. Next time, we will try the food tour by boat to continue tasting the specialties while playing sailors!
