Getting a bird's-eye view
Head to the Cap Ferret Lighthouse to treat yourself to an unforgettable experience! You can't miss this essential landmark of the Bay. It's time to get some exercise and climb 258 steps from the Lighthouse ! Once at the top, the view is breathtaking. From here, you can enjoy a 360° view from over 53 meters high, overlooking the Conche du Mimbeau, the Dune du Pilat, and oyster beds.

Visit the museum and shop at the Lighthouse boutique
After the ascent, take an interactive stroll through the monument, exploring the history of navigation and nautical cartography. Before you leave, make sure to visit the Lighthouse boutique for gifts you won't find anywhere else. It's actually one of the locals' favorite shops, where they stop to find gifts for their guests!
Stroll along the Abécédaire des Dunes (ABC’s of the Dune) trail
Why not take a walk through the sand dunes? Follow the trail (allée des dunes) for 5 km and discover the fauna and flora of Cap Ferret. From the entrance of Cap Ferret to the extreme tip of the peninsula, panels representing each letter of the alphabet will explain everything about the dunes, tides, marine life, and bird migration... That's why it's called the Primer of the Dunes !
Marvel at the tip of Cap Ferret
Take a moment to sit on the sand or on a so-called “Blockhaus” (a World War Two bunker) and enjoy the 180° view of the Dune du Pilat, the Banc d'Arguin , and the gates of the Bay, while listening to the gentle sound of the water. This is where the calm waters of the Bay meet the Atlantic Ocean.
And if you look closely, you will witness the currents intertwining, it's truly magnificent!
